Comments: This truly is the Harvard of Hairdressing! I immediately felt at ease. I
could sense Vivienne’s dedication and passion for her collection, “A Ponytail Story,” just by the
tone of her voice. The concept was simple and very relatable by using the ponytail as the
foundation of learning theory and building skills. The session began by building a foundation
and then took me on a journey to a full blown professional photo shoot. The transformation of
all the different looks where creative and inspiring. It was an organized presentation with
beautiful images detailing her creative thought process. It helped being able to actually see and
compare the silhouettes in solidifying the theory, as well as being able to observe her work live.
I especially enjoyed watching all of the theory be put to use, the light touch of her hands,
learning the names of different types of backcombing, and seeing the various tools that are
used in holding the foundation of the ponytail. She ended the session by answering questions
and sharing her wisdom. Her closing remarks about the importance of walking away when
necessary, focusing on things you have control over, and learning from the best of the best
really resonated with me.
